KUALA LUMPUR (May 8): Mimos Bhd and G7 Aerospace Sdn Bhd (G7A) have inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at boosting the local system integration capabilities within Malaysia’s aerospace ecosystem.
In a statement, Mimos said this strategic collaboration highlights a shared commitment to bolster Malaysia’s capabilities in aerospace technology, foster technological advancements, and nurture high-value activities within the sector.
“This collaboration will encompass various initiatives, including participation in the Industrial Technology Innovation Centre (ITIC) programme managed by Mimos, joint research; and development projects focusing on avionics innovation, capacity building through training, and knowledge transfer, as well as related projects in the avionics sector,” it said.
The MOU was inked at the Asia Defense Services Exhibition (DSA) and National Security Exhibition (Natsec) Asia 2024 exhibitions, held at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) here.
MIimos said the collaboration is a unique opportunity to drive significant advancements in Malaysia’s aerospace industry by enabling proof of concept activities through the ITIC programme.
The initiative allows Mimos to support industry players in testing and refining their technologies before commercialisation, effectively accelerating innovation and shortening the time to market new products.
Meanwhile, G7A will play a crucial role by leveraging its expertise in avionics maintenance services, thereby strengthening upstream and downstream capabilities.
“Their involvement will enhance the overall quality and reliability of aerospace services and products throughout Malaysia.
“G7A will focus on understanding customer needs for avionics enhancements, provide design documentation for system integration and safety certification, invest in necessary hardware and software for prototypes, and market solutions to end-users and potential customers,” it said.
This holistic approach, it said, aims to build expertise across the entire industry and position Malaysia as a key player in the global aerospace industry.
